If you have been following me for a while you have probably seen my store go through a few changes but also my Instagram. It has definitely been a learning curve for me as I never seem to catch on fast, lol. I thought I would break down my creative process when it comes planning my feed.
BATCH PHOTO SHOOTS | I’m sure you have heard people talk about batch work before but I am all about it. I typically do shoots for Earrings and Stuff content maybe every 3-4 months. I love taking product lifestyle shots and styling with all the props I have curated over the years, definitely in my happy place on those days. I should mention I do take random shots too but the bulk of my photos I typically do all in the same day. I also use a stock photo service Social Squares to plunk in every few photos which have been an awesome addition to my brand. They make it very affordable with a variety of different colour options to match your theme!
PHOTO EDITING | I edit all my photos in Lightroom the desktop version but I do use the mobile version too all the time for them on the fly photos. If you're familiar with Lightroom then you know they have what's called “presets” (think of it as a filter), which you can make or buy (my favourite ones I bought here .The ones I purchased are Moonstone, Pink Citrus, and Soleil btw)! You can apply your preset I have one titled “corner office” for example that I will apply to all photos taken in my corner office. It saves you hours on the editing process I swear, I love how you can click on all your photos apply the preset then go through and tweak where needed. You can sync your desktop to your mobile app that is how I get my presets on mobile but it was kind of a process on how I did it, which I watched on YouTube aka my saving grace for all things online, seriously. Although, I have noticed lately that those who sell presets now make mobile versions which make it more obtainable for those who don’t have Lightroom on their desktop. Don't want to deal with Lightroom? Some other apps I use as well are Pic Tap Go (mainly use for bringing lightness up + Air filter), Afterlight & Facetune.
NOW WHAT? | Once all my photos are edited I airdrop them to my phone because I’m always too impatient to wait for them to load to my iCloud drive; if anyone knows any speedy tricks regarding that let me know! When all my photos are on my phone I add them to my all time favourite app PLANN (not sponsored just love it). I have the unlimited plan now that I’m doing social media work for clients but I think one account is free? It is super user-friendly you drag and drop so you can plan your feed. Since using this app it has really stepped my Insta game up in achieving that cohesive look. I also post a graphic after every 5 photos so things look organized at a first glance, which actually ended up being the reason for getting one of my first clients! I know the graphics don’t necessarily do as well on the engagement level but I love the way it looks so I'm sticking with it for now anyway.
CAPTIONS | Sometimes they come easy sometimes they don’t which is another reason why I love having my PLANN app. Since I have all my photos already uploaded in my mock feed if I’m feeling it one day I'll write away really try to get a bunch of copy written. Some days I stare at a blank box too when that happens I move on. Forced writing or thinking does not work well for me!
POSTING | Through PLANN you can’t auto post but even if you can I wouldn’t want to. I do have timers set up so it notifies me when to post but it prompts me to my feed which I copy and paste the caption and post! I usually go on my account before I post and hang out after I post. I ain’t no post and ghoster! I love engaging with my audience online. I try to have a call to action at the end of my posts to start the conversation and I love it when people actually answer me. To be honest half the time people don’t but hey I keep trying. So if you follow me and as YOU something ANSWER because I truly want to know!
Well, there you have it! If you have any questions comment below or email me. I may not know it all but I have also learned a tone of info in the last few years!
