Welcome to a new series on the Earrings and Stuff blog! At least once a month I will have a guest post on something I know all my ladies will definitely be interested in. I want this site to not only be a place to scoop up amazing jewels but also a go-to resource for YOU and ME!
Let me kick off the first series by introducing Amanda Huestis from @work_life_oils ! Amanda is all about living a simple clean life through oils and she's here to teach us a few easy DIY recipes so we can too!
January represents the “new”, whether it’s a new you, a new diet, new work out regiment…the list goes on. It’s a fresh start and you’re so excited you have no idea where to begin. What if I asked you to start with detoxifying your home as your first “to do” on your New Year’s resolution list? Would you know where to start? What if I told you that you could eliminate 90% of your cleaning products with an all-natural solution by using 4 different types of essential oils coupled with basic pantry items? Would you take the challenge?
I’ve been using these natural solutions for over a year now and I wouldn’t turn back. I used to worry about wearing rubber gloves so I wouldn’t have my hands smell like bleach for days, leaving a window open or a fan on in small spaces while I cleaned, and avoiding at all costs having my daughter in the same room breathing in the chemicals. All of this is no longer a concern.
As intimidating as making your own cleaning products may seem, believe me when I tell you it’s as easy as 1, 2, 3! And if you’re like me you’ll love the money you save along the way!
Here are a few of my favorite recipes and what I use them for around my home:
16 oz spray bottle
10 drops doTERRA Lemon Oil
10 drops doTERRA Tea Tree Oil
1 cup white vinegar
Top up with water
5-10 drops doTERRA Lemon Oil
¾ cup baking soda
¼ cup of unscented castile soap
1 tbs water
1 tbs white vinegar
I recommend doubling this recipe and storing in an airtight glass container
16 oz spray bottle
8 drops of your favorite citrus doTERRA oil (lemon, wild orange, grapefruit or our blend called citrus bliss)
1 ½ cup white vinegar
½ cup distilled water aka boiled water
2 oz spray bottle
10 drops doTERRA Lavender
10 drops doTERRA Eucalyptus
Top with Vodka, rubbing alcohol or witch hazel (these options dry faster than distilled water)
Do you have what it takes to start detoxifying your home? I think so. Take the plunge like the rest of us, you won’t be sorry once you get here!
